Ewen Grant and Janice Cooney (owners/skippers)
Ewen grew up in Portree. His father is a local fisherman so Ewen has experience on the water from years of assisting with the family business. He left school and worked as a plant operator for a number of years around Scotland. In 2013 he decided to travel and so left the Isle of Skye. It was on these travels that he crossed paths with Janice, a nurse from Ireland.
After travelling together for some time they moved to Australia and lived there for almost 3 years. To quote Ewen “it took me leaving Skye to realise how stunning it is”. After their 3 years away, they made the decision to move back home.
In 2016 Ewenand Janice returned to Ireland together where they worked for a year, until the opportunity of purchasing MV Seaflower and starting their business arose. They moved to Portree in late 2017 and set about founding SeaflowerSkye.
They are both trained to Yachtmaster Standard in line with MCA/RYA regulations. They are commercially endorsed to carry a maximum of 12 passengers, up to 20 miles from a safe haven.
